To stay active it’s important to be mindful of a few guiding principles including:

Regular exercise

exercise regularly to keep your muscles toned to avoid injury. If you are unfit and want to start a fitness regime consult your doctor to ensure you do not overdo it.

Posture

your posture directly affects the health of your back. Many of us have a sedentary lifestyle which can harm your back. To avoid injury be conscious of your posture at all times particularly when at a computer or driving.

Hydration

make sure you drink plenty of water before, during and after exercise to ensure the optimum function of your muscles and joints.

Warm up & cool down

be disciplined and allow your body to warm up and cool down to help it keep up with the demands you put on it.

Easy does it

build up your exercise programme gradually to avoid strain.

Apparel

wear the right gear to support your feet and allow freedom of movement.

Know when to stop
